EDMONTON, AB—Today, the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its latest annual report, using a fully digital experience to share its many stories with the community.

Entitled "Bridges to Better Care," the report focuses on the Foundation's mission to support excellence in care for all Albertans, especially in the face of the double health crisis of an unrelenting global pandemic and daily deaths from opioid poisoning.

Enabled by donors and through their support of the Royal Alex's life-changing work, the Foundation aims to build bridges toward solutions focused on improved health outcomes; increased research; socio, economic, and political equity; women-specific health and research equity; and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

"As a leader of a major health foundation blessed to work with a vast and diverse community of donors, I recognize that our hospital is both steeped in these issues and positioned to contribute to solving them," stated Sharlene Rutherford, President and CEO of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation.

"This is a hospital that strives for equity and equality and supports the continued strive for justice and fairness in all social systems. It also strives for and continually reaches the highest echelons of excellence in acute care, despite the ongoing challenges of aging infrastructure."

This report contains messages from Foundation, Board and site leadership, key financial information and reporting, and treatment statistics across the hospital’s centres of excellence. The many stories within describe new pathways and transitions, coming together for the greater good, the importance of human connection and the power of donor support.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation and its Board of Directors invite the community to join in and share in its gratitude and celebration of the many steps we've collectively taken.
