Save On Foods locations across Western Canada are giving their shoppers an extra reason to celebrate the special women in their lives this Mother’s Day – and women’s hospitals will benefit, including our very own Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
The Bunches of Love Campaign, which runs May 9-15, 2019 at all Save On Foods locations, will donate 100 per cent of net proceeds from the sales of flowers to improving care and treatment for women across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
“This is an incredibly kind and generous campaign by Save On Foods in support of our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends,” says Sharlene Rutherford, Vice President of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women in Edmonton. “Women of all ages and in all stages of life will benefit from the funds that Save On Foods will provide, as a result of their very generous customers. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with this corporate citizen and we salute such community-mindedness.”
Funds donated to the Lois Hole Hospital for Women will help open a seventh operating suite to handle the growing number of cancer surgeries the hospital performs each year, as well as emergency cesarean section deliveries that occur as a result of the hospital’s specialization in high-risk pregnancy and delivery.
“The surgery program at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women handles the majority of gynecological cancer surgeries in central and northern Alberta—more than 6,500 cases just last year. Not to mention the ‘code pinks’ directly related to the life-saving measures to save, in many cases, both mom and baby.”
With support from Save On Foods, the Lois Hole Hospital for Women moves closer to its goal of expanding its surgical space. The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation encourages everyone to consider how a gift to honour Mom on Mother’s Day will be beneficial.
