Our Hospital, Our StoriesGiving for the Future

"The Royal Alexandra Hospital provided us with the first glimpse of our daughter's hair, her fingers, her little body. We were so impressed with the technology and the care we received that we wanted to give back by becoming lifelong donors.

Two years before the arrival of Dr. Thomas and Melanie Nakatsui's daughter Natalie, the couple experienced the loss of their first child. Six months into Melanie’s second pregnancy, her obstetrician identified potential obstacles and sent them to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, now home to the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, where they had access to 3-D imaging technology. The images they saw gave them the peace of mind to see that she was doing just fine.

"The Royal Alexandra Hospital provided us with the first glimpse of our daughter's hair, her fingers, her little body. We were so impressed with the technology and the care we received. It was such a relief for me to see with my own eyes that she was doing OK," said Melanie.

The Nakatsui's were so grateful for the care they received that they decided to begin a lifelong giving relationship with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation.

"There are funds that are needed to support our hospitals for ourselves, for our children, and for future generations to come. We are both so grateful to be able to play a small part in the exemplary care being provided today and to ensure the continuation of that care for the future."
