A Seventh Operating Suite at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women

Tawsha-Klein Sparks is just one of the more than 6,000 women who rely on the Lois Hole Hospital for Women each year for life-saving surgeries. With your support, care for gynecological cancer procedures will be expedited, access for urogynecology surgeries improved and decreases in wait times across the board will be possible.

Help women like Tawsha gain faster access to life-saving surgeries today.

As central and northern Alberta’s high-risk centre for births and surgical treatments of ovarian, cervical and other gynecological cancers, as well as urogynecologic and pelvic floor disorders the operating rooms at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, are often functioning at or over their capacity.

There are currently six, fully-equipped operating theatres in the hospital (including the da Vinci theatre) handling vital gynecology work including general, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, urogynecology and cancer surgery, as well as the emergency and planned caesarean section deliveries that take place daily. The hospital requires an additional operating room, currently being held as shelled space, to be completed.

All of these improvements will improve patient outcomes and the patient and family experience, allowing women to return to the lives they live with minimal disruption.

Once in place, this dedicated outpatient procedure room will mean nearly 1,500 more procedures will be done each year. All thanks to supporters like you!
