The vision of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency Services is to become recognized and highly respected by the public and health care communities as a centre of excellence for clinical care where highly skilled and motivated staff provide timely and efficient patient care and wellness promotion through public education.
Each year, emergency departments in the Capital Health region see over 300,000 people. With approximately 63,000 visits per year, the Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency Department is the busiest in the Capital Health Region and one of the busiest in Canada.
The Emergency Department is actively involved in research projects aimed at better understanding the most common types of medical and trauma conditions presented by patients in order to provide the best possible care. Other projects are aimed at reducing Emergency Department waiting times and moving patients more quickly to the next stages of treatment.
